British Woods Neighborhood

Pedestrian friendly is key in British Woods, as residents can stroll to shopping, restaurants and parks from the neighborhood. Built primarily in the 1960s and 70s, most houses in British Woods are brick ranch, split-level and traditional two-story designs. The homes are comfortable and on large lots filled with mature trees and landscaping. Some housing in British Woods was developed later, including large houses and condo/townhouse units.

One of the neighborhood’s most popular features is a small lake and playground on the north side of the neighborhood. Residents also can walk to Guilford Courthouse National Military Park, which commemorates a battle between British forces and local patriots that was fought there in 1781. Shopping and restaurants along Battleground Avenue are just minutes away.

British Woods encompasses ZIP Code 27410. It is bordered by Westridge Road on the southeast and Battleground Avenue on the northeast. Westridge Road connects to Joseph M. Bryan Avenue, which provides an easy route to the Piedmont-Triad International Airport, Interstate 73 and Interstate 40.

Greensboro’s popular Country Park is just across Battleground Avenue. The park has a playground, large picnic shelters and hiking trails that wind around lakes. Many people enjoy fishing on the lakes’ public docks, and dog owners can unleash their pets at Bark Park on the western side of Country Park.
