Hewitt Area in Greensboro is a largely commercially populated area just to the west of downtown Greensboro. Despite being so close to the urban center of the city, there is a small pocket of residential construction in the southeast corner of the Hewitt Area.
Shed, shotgun and National style construction make up the houses in the residential section of this neighborhood. Houses in this area are usually worth around $100,000 and are close to several major Greensboro thoroughfares making it easy for drivers to get to other parts of the city.
Hewitt Area is home to several car dealerships in the city. Here, visitors can shop at Carmax, Crown Volvo, Crown Honda or Modern Infiniti for a new or used vehicle. Despite being near several auto sellers, the Hewitt Area is very pedestrian-friendly, offering urban amenities within a short walk from the neighborhood center.
Wendover Avenue W and Spring Garden Street make up the area’s curving northern boundary located within the 27407 zip code. The southern boundary is made up of Patterson Street, or Highway 6, and Interstate Highway 40. The eastern and western boundaries are not well defined but roughly follow S Holden Road and the Tri City Boulevard parallel, respectively.
Entertainment options within the Hewitt Area include Triad Lanes bowling center, perfect for family fun on the weekends. Triad Lanes also has adult and children bowling leagues and hosts tournaments. Triad Lanes also offers day care options for younger children.
The American Cancer Society headquarters in Greensboro sits in the center of the Hewitt Area.
W Market Street to the north has restaurants including Pad Thai, Panera Bread and Tandoor India. Several commercial establishments also line the street near these restaurants making shopping and dining easy to access for Hewitt Area dwellers.
