Southside Neighborhood

Greensboro’s Southside is the result of a revitalization project — the results are a beautiful, walkable, mixed-use community with plenty of live-work space, a downtown area with shops, cafes, and business space, period lamps along wide sidewalks, and a tree-filled park square. Although there is plenty of new construction, the Southside neighborhood features historic, restored Queen Anne homes and bungalows. Some date to the 1870s and several are on the National Register of Historic Places.

Southside features a great view of the downtown skyline, a neighborhood park, and public art. It is convenient to Greensboro’s most popular attractions, including the Carolina Theater, Blandwood mansion, and the International Civil Rights Center and Museum. Bennett College, a private liberal arts school for women, was established in 1873 and is located east of Southside.
