Northwest Raleigh Neighborhood

The area known as Northwest Raleigh is expansive and diverse. This area has quickly grown and is home to prominent and established neighborhoods as well as newly built subdivisions. One can find single-family homes, both spacious and quaint, as well as apartment and condominium living options here. The area is primarily suburban living with large shopping areas, golf courses, and local parks nearby. Three major Interstates, I-540, I-440, and I-40, run near the area offering easy commuting to all of Raleigh and surrounding areas.

The Raleigh Durham International Airport is located in Northwest Raleigh. This airport serves nine major airlines and seven regional carriers and is the largest airport in the immediate Raleigh area.

Crabtree Valley Mall offers exciting dining and shopping for area residents. Dining here includes Flemings Prime Steakhouse, The Cheesecake Factory, P.F. Chang’s China Bistro, and McCormick & Schmicks, among others. Shopping includes over 200 stores with anchors Belk’s, Sears, and Macy’s. Lafayette Village, not far to the east, is a new and unique outdoor shopping experience, offering visitors European-style shopping with gourmet food markets, boutiques, and bistros. Picture narrow cobblestone streets and towering oak trees along with quaint European-style buildings, large fountains, and comfortable park benches. Lafayette Village is sure to become a local favorite.

There is a golf course in the area to suit every taste and style. Wildwood Country Club is an upscale semi-private 18-hole golf facility with a driving range, two putting greens, and a practice bunker. The impressive North Ridge Country Club is a private club offering two 18-hole courses, tennis, fitness center, and even an Olympic-sized pool. Carolina Country Club, a grand and elegant private club, offers 18 holes of golf and a reputation for the finest service and facilities around.

By far, the largest and most visited park in Northwest Raleigh is William B. Umstead State Park. It offers a place to escape the city lights, sounds, and stresses. Relax in this serene and tranquil environment. Fishing, hiking, horseback riding, and picnicking are all popular activities here.
