Gray’s Creek Neighborhood

Southeast of downtown Hope Mills, North Carolina, the Gray’s Creek neighborhood is positioned in an area surrounded by schools, churches, and shopping. The community is in the 28348 zip code. There are several developments in the vicinity. Most dwellings are single-family homes and have been built around Galberry Farm Elementary, Gray’s Creek Middle School, and Gray’s Creek High School. Interstate 95 and N.C. 301 run through the northwestern corner, allowing residents to easily reach Fayetteville, eight miles to the north.

The Millstone Shopping Center and a Wal-Mart Supercenter are less than five miles from Gray’s Creek, and Highway 59 is lined with restaurants and service businesses. Major shopping and dining are also available in Fayetteville.

Hope Mills calls itself a small town. It is, however, an old town with a history of cotton mills that were burned to the ground during the Civil War. Resilient and resourceful, the inhabitants of that era rebuilt the mills. The modern-day Hope Mills is a town that is still growing.

Hope Mills sponsors several citywide events during the year. Many, among them the Old Mill Days, are held at the municipal park. Santa visits the children at the community center, and the annual Christmas parade is a family favorite. The community center provides classes for various ages, and sport leagues are very popular. The local high school participates in several different sports and has won state championships.

Just north of the downtown area, the Fantasy Lake Water Park has become a local favorite, with Tarzan and Jane swings and a sand volleyball court. Residents can visit several regional parks in the area and many more in Fayetteville.

The Gray’s Creek neighborhood has a sense of community that makes it a place people want to call home.
