Located just west of downtown Fargo, the Jefferson neighborhood sits just south of Interstate 94 at 25th Street South. It is within easy access of the Hector International Airport and North Dakota State University Fargo, both to the north via Interstates 94 to 29 or by taking North University Drive on the western edge. Interstate 29 also leads to the West Acres Shopping Center, home to Sears, Macy’s, movie theaters, and a food court selling everything from burgers to Chinese food. All of these locales are within a two mile radius.

Jefferson Elementary is the closest school, on 4th Avenue South. Carl Ben Eielson Middle School is just outside the southern border on 13th Avenue South. The Nokomis Child Care Center is also available on 23rd Street South. Nearby churches include the Campus Crusade for Christ on Main Avenue, Bethlehem Lutheran Church on 16th Street South, and St Anthony of Padua on 10th Street South, just outside the eastern border.

Jefferson is one of Fargo’s oldest neighborhoods with homes dating back to the 1880s. The land was annexed to the city in stages between 1921 and 1975. Development continued until 1998. Most of the homes are single family residences with a few duplexes and apartments. On the north side of Jefferson along Main Avenue is a commercial district offering restaurants, shops, and services.

Jefferson West Park, along 21st Street South, offers hiking and biking paths, basketball court, picnic tables, playground, and tennis courts. McCormick Park along 22nd Street South offers baseball diamonds, playground, volleyball court, trails, and treed picnic areas. A marked biking path leads from one park to the other. MAT transit service is along 23rd Street South, 5th Avenue South, and 9th Avenue South.
