One of the highlights of the Northport neighborhood is Yunker Farm. Built in 1876 it was a working farm until well into the mid 20th century. It was later sold and eventually became part of the Fargo Park District. In 1989 the renovated red brick farmhouse and barn opened as the Children’s Museum at Yunker Farm. Nature trails, a planetarium, and a mini dino-dig are just some of the fun things created with kids in mind. Younker Farm is also home to one of Fargo’s off-leash dog parks. The Friendship/Reineke Park is another open green space in the center of the neighborhood offering bike trails and tree lined picnic areas.

Some of the homes in Northport date back to 1919 but most were built after the mid 1970s. A good portion of the neighborhood is filled with single family homes but the area along Broadway Drive North is lined with apartment buildings. The Northport Shopping Center is also on this end of town, offering an assortment of shops and restaurants as well as the Dakota Medical Clinic.

The closest public schools are McKinley Elementary and Longfellow Elementary. Hope Preschool is on Broadway Drive North. The University of North Dakota Medical School is on Elm Street North, less than a mile southeast of Northport. Temple Baptist Church and Hope Lutheran Church are on the northern end of town.

Hector International Airport is just west of Northport, accessible via 19th Avenue North. That same street leads to North Dakota State University Fargo, just south of the airport. Two restaurants in Northport are Hornbacher’s and Happy Joe’s Pizza & Ice Cream, both on Broadway Drive North. Most restaurants are concentrated on 19th Avenue North, near the airport and university. The MAT city transit system services Northport with most frequent service along Broadway Drive North.
