The University of Arkansas is located in Fayetteville on a gorgeous 412-acre campus overlooking the Ozark Mountains. Established in 1871, UA was the flagship university for the University of Arkansas System. It is a very high research university and is classified as such by the Carnegie Foundation. It is also a land-grant and space-grant public university. UA is a well-respected university and is considered on of the top-ranking universities in the country.
Old Main is the oldest building on campus, completed in 1875. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is an impressive brick building complete with a bell tower. Another unique feature of UA is the “Senior Walk” – over two miles of sidewalk inscribed with the names of former students dating back to 1876.
The University of Arkansas Razorbacks compete in SEC Division I of the NCAA. The university holds the most national championships in the SEC. The football program began in 1894 and has earned a reputation as one of the top programs in the nation. The team plays at the Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium.
