And why not? This private doctoral institution, located in northwest Washington, DC attracts students who are eager to live in the center of national and global affairs. American University, or AU, is a school that lives and breathes politics. Students here are involved in issues from political campaigns to promoting international human rights. The university has the 12th largest number of graduates in Peace Corps service, and ranks fourth in the number of Peace Corps volunteers as a percentage of the total undergraduate population.
