Mount Holyoke College - South Hadley, MA

The Seven Sisters colleges were a group of liberal arts colleges for women established between 1837 and 1889. The first of these colleges was Mount Holyoke College, and it served as a model for the others.

Mount Holyoke is a very prestigious institution, considered one of the best liberal arts colleges in the country. It is also produces many Fulbright Scholars, one of the world’s most prestigious awards programs – 43 Fulbright Scholars have won Nobel Prizes and 78 have won Pulitzers.

As a highly selective, research liberal arts college for women, Mount Holyoke College offers 50 departmental and interdepartmental majors. Mount Holyoke is part of the Five College Consortium, a group of colleges that work together, allowing students the resources of all five schools. The other schools are Hampshire College, Amherst College, Smith College, and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. The schools are all located within a 12-mile radius and are connected by a free bus service.

Settled in 1659, South Hadley is a beautiful, historical New England town with charm and personality. It is located in the Pioneer Valley of western Massachusetts, roughly forty minutes north of Hartford, Connecticut and about an hour and a half west of Boston.

To find an apartment in the Mount Holyoke College area, look near the Village Commons – the heart of the town. This area contains wide sidewalks, shops, restaurants, and a movie theater that lines a public green space. It is on the northwestern end of the college campus near the intersection of Woodbridge Street and Hadley Street.
