Just 14 miles southwest of Boston, Wellesley College is located in the town of Wellesley. Wellesley College is a private, liberal arts, women’s college that was chartered in 1870. As a highly respected college, Wellesley is considered on of the elite “Seven Sisters” colleges that were founded in the mid to late 1800s.
The stately campus is located on 500 acres and includes Lake Waban. Wellesley graduates include such important women as Hillary Rodham Clinton, Madeleine Albright, Diane Sawyer, Cokie Roberts, Nora Ephron, Lynn Sherr, and Katharine Lee Bates, an 1880 graduate who wrote the words to “America the Beautiful.”
