The 450-acre campus is situated in the Berkshires, a beautiful section of northwestern Massachusetts. It is home to the Hopkins Observatory, the oldest observatory in the country. It was built in 1838 by Albert Hopkins and includes Alvan Clark’s first telescope from 1852. It is home to Mehlin Museum of Astronomy and the Milham Planetarium, as well. The campus also contains the Williams College Museum of Art and the Chapin Library, which houses the first printings of the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation, the Bill of Rights, and the US Constitution.
To find an apartment near Williams College, look along Cole Avenue or North Street. The nearest large city from Williamstown is Albany, located about an hour west. Nearby communities include North Adams and Clarksburg.
