Brandywine Neighborhood

Brandywine is located in Franklin County with an average elevation of 850.74 feet above sea level. One interesting fact about Brandywine refers to a musical group called the Brandywine singers. This group of singers, comprised of the Shaw Brothers, Taylor Whiteside and Les Clark, has a musical legacy which spans 30 years. It is a group that earned their spot in the national spotlight with the folk boom of the 60s. The name Brandywine also has a connection to the American Revolutionary War. In 1777, the British defeated the Americans at Brandywine creek located in SE Pennsylvania and Northern Delaware.

The Brandywine school district is comprised of Merritt Elementary and Brandywine Middle/High School. In serving their community, the district has an exercise program for the public. School buildings are available for this purpose. The athletic program of the district is quite broad in giving students the opportunity to participate in various sports activities and teams. These include basketball, bowling, golf, softball, track, volleyball, tennis, soccer and wrestling.

One unique program started on June 1, 2010 by the Brandywine school district is an eligibility calculator by Dynamite Sports. The NCAA calculator is a state of the art design technology providing counselors, parents, administrators and coaches with the ability to monitor eligibility of college bound athletes to play as freshmen. This program benefits the students and the community.

For entertainment, there is the Schottenstein Center which is a multipurpose facility for concerts, hockey and basketball, to name a few. It is located on the Ohio State University Campus in Columbus, Ohio.
