The neighborhood of Eastgate is in eastern Columbus, Ohio, within Franklin County. This community is just west of U.S. Highway 62/North Nelson Road and south of Interstate 670. The neighborhood consists primarily of single-family homes along Greenway Avenue North. The zip code for Eastgate is 43219.
One of the perks of the Eastgate neighborhood is its proximity to a variety of area parks. Immediately to the east of the community, on the other side of the highway, are Nelson Park and Jeffrey Park. Much of the former is undeveloped parkland, but it does offer some popular hiking and biking trials. Jeffrey Park offers several amenities, including a playground, tennis courts, and a swimming pool. Two additional decent-sized parks – Wolfe Park and Franklin Park – are situated less than a mile south of Eastgate. Residents here clearly have many options for outdoor recreation within walking distance or a short drive from home.
The Eastgate neighborhood is just 10 minutes from the downtown area, which is easily accessible via nearby I-62. Here, you’ll find several institutions of higher learning, including the Columbus State Community College, Columbus College of Art and Design, and Franklin University.
There are also a variety of opportunities for culture and entertainment in downtown Columbus, including the Columbus Metropolitan Library, Columbus Museum of Art, Ohio Theatre, and Columbus Cultural Arts Center. Huntington Park, home of the Columbus Clippers baseball team, is also situated in this area.
Additionally, Eastgate residents enjoy the convenience of having several area medical centers within a short drive of home. The closest to the neighborhood is the Ohio State University Hospital East along Taylor Avenue, but there are several prominent medical facilities in the downtown area as well.
