Summerwood Neighborhood
To the north and west of downtown Columbus is the neighborhood of Summerwood. The ZIP code for this community is 43235. The boundaries of the neighborhood are the I-270 to the south, Hard Road to the north, Smokey Row Road on the east, and Foxboro Lane on the west.
Summerwood is a relatively new neighborhood. Most of the homes date from the 1970s and 80s. Among the housing options are multi-family homes, condos, and ranch-style duplexes.
When residents of Summerwood want to go grocery shopping, there are two chain stores within an easy drive, Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s. Hard Road has a variety of shopping plazas. Most of the retailers located there are local instead of chain stores.
Polaris Fashion Place is a shopping mall that is a short drive away from the Summerwood neighborhood. It offers a wide variety of shops for everyone in the family. Macy’s is one of the anchor stores of the mall. In addition, there are stores such as Aeropostale, American Eagle Outfitters, Ann Taylor, Barnes & Noble, and Baby Gap. Summerwood residents also have a multitude of dining options, including The Cheesecake Factory, Starbucks, Chick-fil-A, and Benihana.
Although there are no parks in the Summerwood neighborhood, Olde Sawmill Park is just a short drive to the northwest. There is a playground in the park that is exceptionally nice. Known as the Discovery Playground, it was built through the effort of volunteers from the community. The park offers basketball courts and picnic tables along with a shelter. It also has walking trails for visitors to enjoy.
