Weinland Park Neighborhood

Weinland Park is a neighborhood in transition. There are some good things in the works. New homes are being planned and homes already in the neighborhood are being renovated. $15 million has been pledged to make this happen. The next five years are going to be a very busy time in Weinland Park.

Weinland Park is located north of downtown Columbus. The boundaries of the neighborhood are North High Street to the west, East 11th Avenue to the north, East 5th Street is south, and the railroad tracks are located to the east. Community gardens are springing up all over the neighborhood, and they teach youngsters and teens about the process of producing food. The zip code for Weinland Park is 43201.

This neighborhood has many multi-family homes. They are architecturally interesting. Along Summit Street there are a wide variety of styles in red and golden brick. Many of them have two front porches and some have one porch that is shared. On other streets there are Tudors, bungalows, and Cape Cods. Mixed in with the residential structures there are commercial buildings. It is a neighborhood with an eclectic mix of styles. There is public bus transit on the major streets in the neighborhood.

In August, the annual Weinland Park Festival takes places from 10 A.M. to 2 P.M. at the Weinland Park playground. This is a time to get to meet the neighbors while sharing food, entertainment and good times.

Northside Library is located on North High Street. It offers special programs for children, teens and adults. Weinland Park provides residents with almost four acres of outdoor space. The park has a playground, picnic tables and basketball courts. When residents want to go food shopping, the nearest grocery store is Kroger’s on North High Street.
