Woodland Park Neighborhood

The Woodland Park neighborhood came into existence in the early years of the twentieth century as a group of residents went looking for a place to further climb the social ladder. This planned community has offered plenty of modern conveniences from the beginning. Wonderful old mansions sprinkled among smaller homes evoke the charm of their time period. Home styles include craftsman bungalows, stately Victorians, and Tudor mansions. Some mansions have been converted to commercial use, but some remain family homes. The neighborhood’s larger homes sit on half acre lots.

Woodland Park, located in Columbus, Ohio is bordered by East Broad Street to the south, Taylor Avenue to the west, Maryland Avenue to the north, and railroad tracks to the east. The large homes in the southern section of the neighborhood sit close to Franklin Park. Homes become smaller and newer farther north in the neighborhood. Sidewalks and mature trees line the streets, and public transportation is available in the neighborhood. Woodland Park’s zip codes are 43201 and 43219.

Franklin Park lies south of the Woodland Park neighborhood, about two miles east of downtown Columbus. The historical Franklin Park Conservatory also calls the park home. During the winter months, the conservatory offers a warm and welcoming place to escape from the cold. In addition to the conservatory’s plants are glass sculptures by renowned artist Dale Chihuly. The park also contains a playground, a community garden, trails, and picnic areas.

Kroger’s on East Main Street provides residents with convenient shopping.
