Hilliard Green is neighborhood on the west side of the Greater Columbus Area. The neighborhood is less than 30 years old, and many of the homes are 20 years old or less. These large homes are in the desirable Hilliard School District, and prices are a little higher than the median for the Columbus area. Apartment and town homes are also available for rent here.
Hilliard Green is bounded by Roberts Road on the north, Hilliard-Rome Road on the west, Trabue Road on the south, and Walcutt Road to the east. Hilliard Green is close to Interstate 70 and the Columbus Outer Belt for commuters.
Hilliard Green is popular with families. The public school district is rated highly among parents and students. St. Brendan’s Catholic School and Parish offers a traditional Catholic education as an alternative to public school. There are few through streets and most have light neighborhood traffic. Sidewalks are the rule. Children have lots of room to play. Joggers, dog walkers and those out for a stroll don’t ever have to dodge traffic.
Columbus and its surrounding suburbs have put emphasis on setting aside land for parks. Nearby Hilliard Municipal Park boasts baseball and turf fields, picnic grounds, and a walking path through a wooded area. Prairie Oaks Metro Park is more than 500 acres of grassland and woods with Sycamore Plains Walking Trail that follows Darby Creek through lush forest and natural prairie. Big Run Park, the largest park in the Columbus Parks System, is heavily wooded, with marked walking paths. This park is also the location for the Soap Box Derby for Greater Columbus.
