Akers Park Neighborhood

The Akers Park neighborhood of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, is located in the 73129 ZIP code. Akers Park is bordered by South Eastern Avenue on the west and East Grand Boulevard on the east. I-35 and I-40 form the northern boundary and SE 15th is the southern border. A city stream and a railroad track run parallel to I-35 and I-40 through one corner of the neighborhood. A large pond is also located in this corner of the neighborhood. Most of the neighborhood outlets are located on SE 15th Street, but there is only one on East Grand Boulevard.

The Akers Park neighborhood is a very mixed-use area. Commercial and industrial properties are mixed with small private homes throughout the entire neighborhood. Existing homes tend to be older and built out of brick, cinderblock, or wood. There is also an occasional manufactured home. Yards are neat but very plain. Many of the commercial buildings are also manufactured buildings. Most properties are in good repair. The area has many fields and undeveloped lots. There are also quite a few trees and woody areas. Residential parts of Akers Park tend to have a country atmosphere to them.

Southeast 15th Street is a four-lane road and has many commercial and industrial properties. Del Crest Shopping Center is located there and is a popular neighborhood shopping area.

Located off I-40, the Ray Trent Park is close to the Akers Park neighborhood. The park features a playground, picnic facilities with grills, and a very popular dog park with dog playground equipment.
