Brookhaven West Neighborhood

Brookhaven West is a neighborhood in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma that is located south of West Hefner Road, east of North Rockwell Avenue, north of West Britton Road, and east of North Council Road. Residents enjoy being close to the Lake Hefner Golf Club and Lake Hefner, both which are located east of the community. Hikers and bicyclers in the neighborhood like taking advantage of the trail system located around Hefner Lake.

The community, which is made up primarily of traditional brick ranch-style homes that are around 30 years old, is a quiet, serene locale whose landscape includes canopies of birch, sugar maple, ginkgo, and sweet gum trees. The trees attract and provide homes for several species of birds, including woodpeckers, sapsuckers, flickers, flycatchers, vireos, and Oklahoma’s state bird, the scissor-tailed flycatcher.

The Stinchcomb Wildlife Refuge lies to the southwest of the neighborhood and provides plenty of recreational opportunities for mountain bikers and hikers. Birders who visit the refuge often spot wood ducks, warblers, and small birds, such as indigo buntings and goldfinches, all which inhabit the area. Prairie dogs have established a colony on the south side of the refuge as well. The animals sometimes draw the attention of red-tailed hawks that canvass the refuge for food.

With its close access to recreation, the Brookhaven West neighborhood is an idyllic location to raise a family. Parents in the community send their children to one of three schools, or Harvest Hills Elementary School, Cooper Middle School, or Putnam City North High School. In addition, residents are in proximity to area shopping and dining.

For any active family who enjoys the Great Outdoors as well as being conveniently located to stores and restaurants, the Brookhaven West community in Oklahoma City is the perfect place to call home.
