Edgemere Park Neighborhood

The Edgemere Park neighborhood of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma is a historical district. Truly an area designed for residents to enjoy, the neighborhood offers something for all tastes in living. Architectural designs run from Tudor Revival to Colonial and Spanish.

The Edgemere Park neighborhood is bordered on the north by Northwest 36th Street. North Walker Avenue forms the western boundary with Northwest 30th Street creating the southern border. North Robinson Avenue gently curves around the area making the eastern boundary. Interstate 235 runs in a north-south direction just to the east of North Robinson Avenue. Northwest 36th Street offers access to Interstate 235 at the north making it easy for commuters.

Edgemere Park and Guy James Park are beautifully centered in the neighborhood for all residents to enjoy. North Harvey Parkway bisects the community from north to south. In addition to the parks the area has many mature trees to add to the natural beauty. Plenty of sidewalks are available for pedestrian use.

Oklahoma City University and Oklahoma Junior College are a short drive to the southwest. The Oklahoma History Center is southeast across Interstate 235. For shopping, the Park Estates Shopping center is east of the neighborhood on Northeast 36th Street. Slightly northeast of the community residents can find recreation at Lincoln Park and Northeast Lake. The main portion of Oklahoma City itself is just to the south by I-235 and the intersection of Interstate 40.

The Edgemere Park neighborhood was one of the first planned developments to the west of the Mississippi River when the neighborhood first began in the 1920’s. The Edgemere Elementary School is right on the southwestern border. The school first opened in 1912 on land that was donated by Leon Levy. Part of the 73118 zip code, Edgemere Park is in Oklahoma County.
