Lake Hefner Neighborhood

Situated in the northwest sector of Oklahoma City, Lake Hefner is an upscale residential area that used to be wheat fields and cow pastures. Today, residents enjoy an exceptional residential lifestyle with easy access to boating, fishing, hunting and hiking opportunities as well as shopping, restaurants, parks, schools, museums, fairs and festivals. The average home price in the Lake Hefner area is around $150,000.

The nearby University of Oklahoma is one of the area’s largest employers.

Located in the 73120 zip code area, Lake Hefner is bordered on the north by West Hefner Road, on the south by West Britton Road, on the west by Lake Hefner Parkway and on the each by North May Avenue. Other neighborhoods near Lake Hefner include Springbrook, Summerfield, Nichols Hills and Camelot Estates.

The focal point of the area and one of the main drawing cards is Lake Hefner, a man-made lake built in 1947. Spanning more than 2,500 acres, Lake Hefner is a superb lake for sailing, boating and fishing. In addition, other recreation possibilities include jogging trails, parks and playgrounds, and a golf course. Lake Hefner residents who like to keep fit take advantage of the Lake Hefner trails which frame the entire lake (over 9 miles). Sailing enthusiasts love living in the area as well because of the well-established Oklahoma City Boat Club, located on the lake’s eastern shore.

For commuting, Lake Hefner is in an ideal location. Residents can access the John Kilpatrick Turnpike, a few blocks north of the community, which is a major east/west arterial that connects to Interstate 35 and Interstate 44.
