The Pines subdivision of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, is bordered on the north by West Wilshire and on the west by Lyrewood Lane. North MacArthur Boulevard and NW 63rd Street mark the other two boundaries of the neighborhood. The Pines is also close to the Northwest Expressway and the John Kilpatrick Turnpike allowing easy access to all areas of Oklahoma City and its attractions and amenities.
The Pines is built around two well-stocked lakes and has three other small lakes as neighborhood landmarks. Other features include the green ways between the properties and the lakes. The neighborhood features well-maintained, comfortable homes with lush landscaping. There is an active Neighborhood Watch program and others that benefit everyone. Neighborhood landmarks include the Wiley Post Airport and the Springdale Shopping Center.
Several schools serve the Pines neighborhood. Putnam City High School has a Great Schools rating of seven out of ten and maintains a four-star community approval rating. Putnam’s highlights are its band, basketball program, and community service program.
Hefner Middle School boasts a Great Schools rating of nine. Hefner’s highlights are its academic contests and band program.
Wiley Post Elementary School is a National Blue Ribbon School.
There are many recreational facilities, including Cherokee Hills Park, a neighborhood park featuring tennis courts and a walking path. The Dolese Youth Park offers a kids’ fishing pond, a playground, baseball fields, an 18-hole disc golf course, and walking trails. The Lake Hefner Golf Course features two courses surrounding Lake Hefner. The Hefner area also has fishing, walking trails, disc golf and picnic areas.
The Stincomb Wildlife Refuge is just a short drive from the Pines neighborhood. The wildlife refuge offers nature trails over and through the swamp and wetlands. Visitors can hike or bike through the refuge. Highlights of the park are its birds and the prairie dog colony.
