Wilshire Ridge Neighborhood

The Wilshire Ridge neighborhood of Oklahoma City is located northwest of the city, on the southern end of Lake Hefner. The state of Oklahoma has enormous skies, lots of wide open countryside and hundreds of lakes. It is a nature lover’s paradise, full of rugged scenes where animals roam and birds migrate, often nesting in secluded areas along the water’s edge.

Wilshire Ridge is near several small lakes, and two of Oklahoma’s largest lakes. Lake Overholser is a few miles southwest of the community, featuring boating ramps, hiking trails and picnic areas. Lake Hefner has all of these amenities, but also has a wonderful golf course, dedicated ball fields and a separate Stars and Stripes Park where events take place. Both lakes are excellent recreation spots for fishing and water sports.

Homes in the Wilshire Ridge community are moderately priced, and the majority of them were built in the 1970s. Most are three bedroom, single family homes on comfortably sized lots. They are modern and spacious, inside and out. Mature trees add to the pleasant environment, offering shade and alluring accents to the neighborhood.

Stinchcomb Wildlife Refuge is located southwest of Wilshire Ridge, on the north border of Lake Overholser, along Historic U. S. 66, which runs between Stinchcomb Wildlife Refuge and Lake Overholser. U. S. 66 almost seems to be a natural divider for the two popular recreation sites. Stinchcomb runs along the North Canadian River. It is primarily swampland, where birds and other animals can be observed in their natural habitats. Dense forest covers much of Stinchcomb, with lots of trails for visitors.

Wilshire Ridge is a friendly, urban community, where people tend to settle and stay, raising their families and enjoying the welcoming environment. It is an agreeable place that residents are happy to call home.
