Highland Park Neighborhood

The Highland Park neighborhood is located in southeastern Tulsa, about seven miles from the downtown section. This community is bounded by East 31st Street and Broken Arrow Expressway/State Highway 51/U.S. Highway 64 on the north, South Yale Avenue on the west, East 36th Street on the south, and East 41st Street on the east. This Tulsa County community is situated in the 74135 ZIP code.

The majority of this neighborhood is residential, devoted to single-family homes on rather spacious lots. However, some commercial offerings are along South Yale Avenue, including the Highland Shopping Center. Additional retail centers are just north of the Highland Park community, among them the Sheridan Royal Shopping Center and the Bownan Acres Shopping Center.

Another amenity within neighborhood boundaries is the community’s namesake, Highland Park. Located in the southwestern corner of the neighborhood, this community park offers a walking trail, two tennis courts, playground, and plenty of open green space for games and picnicking. Another community park, Whiteside Park, is within walking distance, along South Pittsburgh Avenue and East 41st Street.

Additional opportunities for outdoor recreation near Highland Park include the Tulsa State Fairgrounds, host of the annual Tulsa State Fair, to the north. For golf, there are two country clubs situated within a few miles south of this community, Lafortune County Park and Southern Hills Country Club.

The Highland Park neighborhood is also close to a variety of higher-education options. Just outside of community on the southeast are Platt College and Tulsa Community College. Additional options within five miles of home include the University of Tulsa to the north and Oral Roberts University to the southwest.
