Melrose Place Neighborhood

Melrose Place is a mature neighborhood on the north side of the city of Tulsa, Oklahoma. It sits at the foot of Reservoir Hill, where substantial older homes have splendid views of downtown. Melrose Place itself is not grand, but it is full of well-kept streets and tidy single-family homes, as well as a few apartments.

Melrose Place is encompassed by the Tisdale Parkway on the west. East Pine Street is the boundary on the south, and North Fourth West Avenue on the east. On the north, the boundary is the bottom of Reservoir Hill. The Heritage Hill neighborhood is east of Melrose Place, and Gilcrease Hills is to the west. The zip code for the neighborhood is 74106.

Burroughs is the local elementary school, Cleveland is the middle school for the neighborhood, and the high school is Central High. The Tulsa School District also offers magnet programs and magnet schools. Students can apply to study such fields as digital media, healthcare or the performing arts, each taught at a particular school within the district.

A few miles east of Melrose Place, Lake Yahola Reservoir, part of Tulsa’s water supply, is a prime bird-watching location. The lake is adjacent to wooded Mohawk Park, the third largest city park in the nation, where visitors will find a public golf course and the Tulsa Zoo. Zoo exhibits include a tropical rain forest environment, a penguin park with a rocky coast and a wave pool, and an animal interaction area for children.

Melrose Place is located two miles north of downtown Tulsa. The Tisdale Parkway provides for a simple commute, and the Gilcrease Expressway goes straight to the international airport, as well as to Mohawk Park. Picturesque older homes that sit behind tidy lawns make centrally located Melrose Place an enticing place to live.
