Richmond Neighborhood

Homey yet artsy bungalows nestle on small creatively landscaped lawns in Richmond. Spring-flowering trees line the sidewalks and street. The Richmond neighborhood, a densely populated area of Portland, is conveniently located to both neighborhood and greater metro attractions and very pedestrian-friendly.

Richmond is youthful neighborhood, and the surrounding restaurants, bars, and entertainment venues cater to that audience. While there are few franchise restaurants, there is a lively mix of restaurants featuring local and international cuisine. Powell’s City of Books, a famous block-wide bookstore, is located along Southeast Hawthorne Boulevard; Multnomah County Library is on Southeast 39th Avenue.

For everyday shopping, Safeway and Fred Meyers are a few blocks away. The boundary roads of the Richmond neighborhood are Southeast Hawthorne Road, Southeast 50th Avenue, and Southeast Powell Boulevard in zip code 97206.

Neighborhood Mt. Tabor Park, just east, has miles of trails, playgrounds, and picnic shelters. Eastmoreland Golf Course. Another half-dozen golf courses, both public and private, are located north of Richmond. Warner Pacific College is east of the neighborhood, bordering Mt. Tabor Park. Reed College is south. Both are within two miles. University of Oregon has a campus close by.

Downtown Portland, to the west, is host to great cultural, historic, and natural areas. These all come together is Waterfront Park. Highlights of the 30-acre park include the Battleship Oregon Memorial, The Founders Stone, and the Japanese-American Historical Plaza. Visitors can also stroll along boat docks and trails, and see fountains and great public art.

The Portland Saturday Market in historic Old Town has been a favorite since its opening in 1974. The market features local artists and a tremendous variety of food and entertainment.

Mt. Hood National Forest offers gorgeous views and beautiful trails.
