Sylvan – Highlands – Southwest Hills Neighborhood

The Sylvan – Highlands – Southwest Hills District is one of Portland’s most beautifully wooded neighborhoods, with with towering pines, thick hardwoods and narrow, winding roads. Despite the roads, this neighborhood is especially pedestrian friendly, with many trail systems and greenways.

The 5-acre Japanese Garden features exhibits on gardening and sustainability, and periodic lectures on all things Japanese and gardening, including Japanese carpentry and cuisine.

Residents most adore Sylvan – Highland – Southwest Hills for the lush wooded village look, the excellent walking areas, the local dog parks, and the beautiful gardens and memorials. For a cosmopolitan side, downtown Portland is a few short minutes away, with its many restaurants, clubs, shops, and the infamous Powell’s City of Books, a bookstore that covers an entire city block.
