The Portland metro area consists of five counties. Washington County is one of the more populated counties, with the largest city being its county seat of Hillsboro. This beautiful county of rolling, green hills, dramatic mountains, forests, and the meandering Tualatin River was created in 1843. With its diverse economy that ranges from gorgeous sprawling wineries to high-tech companies, Washington County’s opportunities include manufacturing and agriculture to Fortune 500 companies such as Nike, and technology-based companies such as Tektronix and Intel. Washington County has so many high-tech companies that the area is often referred to as the Silicon Forest. Reser’s Fine Foods and Columbia Sportswear are also headquartered in Washington County.
