A tall, stately building dressed in red bricks stands proudly on the hillside, protecting the remarkable art housed inside. It started out as a grist mill in the 19th century, but today it is a museum that features a large collection of art by the Wyeth family.
Surrounding the Brandywine Museum, the Brandywine Valley is a wonderful landscape of green, rolling hills and historic sites. The Battle of Brandywine was fought here in September of 1777, and walking through the Brandywine Battle Historic Site is like stepping back in time.
Ridley Creek State Park provides 2,606 acres of natural beauty. Visitors to this park enjoy hiking and biking along the five-mile paved trail, picnics, and fishing. The Colonial Pennsylvania Plantation, contained in the park, is a living history museum of life on a pre-Revolutionary farm. There are over 20 properties within the park listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
