Palmer Heights Neighborhood

Palmer Heights is a neighborhood in Easton, an eastern suburb of Allentown, Pennsylvania. Part of Palmer Township, this community’s official designation is as a census-designated place. It is situated in the Lehigh Valley, within Northampton County. Encompassing the 18045 zip code area, Palmer Heights is bounded by Newburg Road and South 25th Street on the north, South 25th Street and Nazareth Road on the east, and Highway 22 on the south. Its western boundary is less conspicuous, but extends to include all of Clearview Street, Val Vista Drive, Newton Street, and Hunter Street. Highway 33 runs past the neighborhood about a half-mile to the west.

As of 2000, Palmer Heights was home to more than 3,600 residents. The vast majority of this community is residential, devoted to single-family homes. However, the midsection of the community is home to the Northampton Memorial Shrine, and the Palmer School can be found in the community’s southwestern corner, along Green Pond Road. The Easton Area High School is located just outside of neighborhood bounds, along William Penn Highway.

For outdoor recreation, residents of Palmer Heights head to nearby Meuser Park, Hackett Park, or Louise W. Moore Park. The latter is home to a small pond and offers several tennis courts, playing fields, jogging/biking trails, playgrounds, and open space for games and picnicking.

This community is also located just north of two popular private golfing options. For those who aren’t opposed to membership fees, nearby Green Pond Country Club and Northampton Valley Country Club offer beautiful 18-hole courses and pro shops. Their banquet halls are also popular for weddings and other events.

A variety of additional amenities and attractions can be found in the Easton area, but for more to see and do, downtown Allentown is just over 20 minutes away, conveniently accessible via nearby Highway 22.
