Roughly six miles north of Pittsburgh in the picturesque North Hills, Glenshaw is a charming little community in Shaler Township. In the early 19th century, John Shaw purchased 600 acres of land and built a gristmill, coal mine, and sickle factory. The area became known as “Shaw’s Glen,” and later simply “Glenshaw.” Glenshaw is the heart of Shaler Township, which grew around this original settlement.
