Highspire, PA Townhouses for Rent

Located about six miles south of Harrisburg, the Borough of Highspire oozes small-town charm. It is situated along the Susquehanna River just north of Harrisburg International Airport and Penn State Harrisburg: Environmental Technology Center.

Highspire was first settled by Colonel James Burd who moved to the area in 1763 and built a house known as “Tinian.” In 1775, John Hollingsworth arrived and built a grist mill. The borough was finally laid out in 1814. The area is steeped in history, and there are several historic sites in Dauphin County. When you rent your Highspire apartment, you’ll be close enough to Harrisburg to shop at the Broad Street Market, founded in 1860. It is one of the oldest continuously-operating farmer’s markets in the US and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Highspire has several local parks, many with ball fields, pavilions, and playgrounds. Neighboring boroughs contain boat launches and other parks, giving Highspire residents plenty of recreational activities to choose from.
