Brighton Heights Neighborhood

Pittsburgh, known as the Most Livable City, is a vibrant cultural and educational center with several universities and teaching hospitals. It is also the home of the Pittsburgh Steelers Football Team. The Brighton Heights neighborhood is located in the northern area of the city.

This is an older, established area, and the predominately brick homes are well maintained. This family-friendly community has schools and multiple daycare facilities. Restaurants with a variety of cuisines and movie theatres provide evening entertainment. Allegheny General Hospital is in the vicinity with excellent medical care. Located just three miles north of downtown Pittsburgh, residents can drive or take public transportation into the city.

Recreational opportunities include Benton Field, which has established programs for baseball, softball, soccer, and futsal, a type of association football which is played in a smaller playing area. Marmaduke Playground has hockey, tennis and baseball. Riverview Park covers 251 acres and has a public pool, playground, equestrian bridle path, archery range, ball fields and an off-leash dog exercise area. It is also the home of the Allegheny Observatory, which provides community and cultural events, including summer concerts and Observatory Skywatch Evenings.

Pittsburgh has many community centers, with a center near Brighton Heights. Activities are planned for all age groups, including seniors. Residents enjoy sports activities, including volleyball, basketball, table tennis, gym, kinder gym, and fitness exercise classes. Other programs available include after-school programs, dance, ceramics, games, talent shows and holiday events.
