Overbrook Neighborhood

The Overbrook Neighborhood has the zip-code areas 15210, 15227, 15234 within its boundaries south of the city. The Pittsburgh area weather is designated at “temperate” with occasional weather spikes. There are very few days of excessive heat and humidity, compared to areas with similar water tables. The Allegheny Mountains brisk away the colder winter weather, but the inescapable moisture leaves some of Pittsburgh’s beautiful snowscape behind.

The north border is Brookline Boulevard. The eastern boundary is Saw Mill Run Road. Seaton Street is the western line. The southern border stops behind the homes along Belleville road. The neighborhood was originally part of the Baldwin Township, but broke away to join Pittsburgh, and was the last neighborhood to join the city.

To the north of the neighborhood is Mount Washington and the notable city skyline. To the east is Waterfront Shopping, where the city has reclaimed post-industrial lands for community enjoyment. To the south, the Mount Lebanon Municipal Golf Course is a 9-hole par-35 course stretched over 3,074 yards. The Settler’s Cabin County Park is to the west with historical re-creations of early log cabins.

If one is looking for short-term to longer-term accommodations, rental properties in the Overbrook Neighborhood are worth the trouble finding. Apartments here are settled quietly away from the hectic city life. They range from smaller multi-unit buildings to renovated homes and are quite modestly priced.

The park-like setting of the neighborhood gives it narrow streets, and sidewalks are only used near schools and commercial properties. Getting around is easy with the many bus stops made available by the Port Authority of Allegheny County, with connections to available light rail stations. Bike/ hike lanes are available in the park areas.
