Maryville Ashleyville Neighborhood

Across the inlet from The Citadel Military College of South Carolina is Maryville Ashleyville. The boundaries go west along St. Andrews Boulevard to the green belt, extend farther west to Diana Street, then run back to St. Andrews Boulevard, another green belt, east to the inlet, and south to Penn Avenue.

Maryville Ashleyville is one of the most historic neighborhoods in a very historic town, and the houses are older and very well kept. Much of the neighborhood was built before the Civil War, and there is a strong market for the fabulous location, great architecture, and southern feel of the neighborhood. Home prices can vary depending on size, number of bedrooms, and views from the front porch, but generally the prices are higher than the median price of Charleston.

If you aren’t out walking with the family after dinner in Maryville Ashleyville, the neighbors will come and check on you. Weather, beautiful magnolia trees, great sidewalks, and southern charm make this a friendly, close-knit neighborhood.

Maryville Ashleyville is close to much of Charleston’s rich historical sites. Historic Downtown Charleston is only minutes away, featuring many older shops and restaurants, preserved buildings, and lovely promenades. The Citadel Museum on the grounds of The Citadel Military College of South Carolina chronicles the institution from its founding in 1842 to today. Fort Sumter National Monument is run by the National Park Service and is in the Charleston Harbor and chronicles the Civil War from the place where its first shot was fired.
