Laurel Hill Neighborhood

The residential neighborhood of Laurel Hill, located in zip code 29201, is bordered by Marlboro Street to the north, Park Street to the east, Darlington Street to the south and Lucius Road to the west. The neighborhood is ideally located for day excursions to local parks, shopping, restaurants, and area attractions.

River Drive, just a short distance from the Laurel Hill community, provides quick travel time to the Columbia Canal and Riverfront Park and the Three Rivers Greenway. The Columbia Riverfront Park and Historic Canal offers residents a two and a half mile trail for walking, bicycling, jogging, and fishing. There are many lookout points, tables for picnicking, and benches along the trail.

Residents can plan a day of fun at the nearby Riverbanks Zoo and Botanical Gardens, which features exotic animals, an aquarium and a bird center. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973, the 170-acre zoo and gardens is committed to endangered wildlife and the environment.

The Riverside Golf Course across the Columbia Canal, Earlwood Park, Marshall Park, House Museum Tours and the Governor’s Mansion built in 1855 are all places where residents can take in historic sites, relax, and play. Schools in the area include Taylor Elementary School, Gibbes Middle School, Logan Elementary School, McCants School and Rainbow Child Care & Kindergarten. Shopping can be found at nearby Sunset Shopping Center and further to the west at Dutch Square Shopping Center and Boozer Shopping Center.
