Melrose Heights Neighborhood

The Melrose Heights neighborhood is a quiet residential neighborhood consisting of older two-story frame houses, traditional single-level dwellings and bungalow-style homes situated on tree-lined streets.

The neighborhood is encompassed by Gervais Street to the north, Millwood Avenue to the west and Trenholm to the east, which provide access to the midtown, downtown area, local attractions, and museums, shopping venues, restaurants, Providence Hospital and the Columbia Owens International Airport.

Adults and children have several nearby parks to choose from for jogging, biking, relaxing, and picnicking, and play areas. Parks in close proximity to Melrose Heights include Emily Douglas Park, Melrose Park, Valencia Playground, Sarge Frye Field, Hollywood Park, Green Valley Park, and Martin Luther King Jr. Park.

Along with local chain stores, boutiques, and specialty businesses, residents can shop at area centers like Trenholm Plaza Shopping Center, Stein Mart, Richland Mall, and Market Place Shopping Center.

Several museums in Columbia provide an interesting day for individuals and families to discover history, observe exhibits, or take a tour, and are easily accessible from the Melrose Heights community.
