Ridgewood – Monticello Neighborhood

North of downtown Colombia is the neighborhood of Ridgewood-Monticello. It is an elongated neighborhood that runs north to south and borders State Route 215. Ridgewood-Monticello is made up of single-family homes, townhouses, and mobile homes.

The predominant school in this area is Eau Claire High School. Other schools include Hyatt Park Elementary School, Alcorn Middle School, and Ridgewood School. Also nearby are Columbia College and Lutheran Theological Seminary. Angelo’s Zesto, Church’s Chicken, and Good Day are among the eating establishments in the area.

Some good parks to relax and hang out in include Ridgewood Park and Earlwood Park. Among nightlife attractions are The Platinum Plus, P T’s 1109, Salsa Cabana, and Speakeasy.

For Ridgewood-Monticello residents who like museums, those convenient to the community include the EdVenture Children’s Museum, Fort Jackson Army Museum, and South Carolina Confederate Relic Room & Military Museum.

One of America’s top zoos is the Riverbanks Zoo & Garden. This historic site dates to the Civil War. Film lovers can catch a first-run flick at Regal Sandhill Stadium 16, Regal Columbiana Grande Stadium 14, and AMC Dutch Square 14. Sports fans can watch the University of South Carolina Gamecocks play football, basketball, baseball, or soccer.

Residents also enjoy fishing at Lake Murray for largemouth bass or striped bass. Numerous fishing tournaments are held throughout the year. The lake also has boating, sailing, and water skiing activities.
