Falls Park Neighborhood

Greenville, South Carolina’s lush 20-acre Falls Park is a highlight of the popular West End section of the city. The urban park is designed to bring the beauty of the Reedy River waterfalls into the everyday lives of residents and create a gathering place for locals and visitors alike. The park provides several overlooks, terraces, gardens, and two amphitheaters that for the majority of the year play host to community and regional events.

One of the more unique aspects of the park is the award winning Liberty Bridge. The elevated byway connecting South Main Street and Falls Street is the only curved pedestrian suspension bridge in the U.S. Recreational areas, eateries, and nightlife havens hug both entrances to the bridge providing a myriad of entertainment options for a variety of tastes. The newly created 13.55 mile Swamp Rabbit Trail walking/biking trail also runs through the park, providing yet another recreational opportunity.

Falls Park is bordered by South Main Street (SC Hwy 25), Howe Street, University Street, South Church Street (SC Hwy 29) and Falls Street in the center of downtown. In addition to outdoor activities, dining and shopping, the revitalized area has become a magnet for the arts. The Warehouse Theater, home to Greenville’s professional theatrical company and the South Carolina Children’s Theater are located within walking distance just west of the park on Augusta Street. The Peace Center for the Performing Arts is located two blocks north from the foot of Liberty Bridge on South Main Street. The center is the premier concert venue in the Upstate but it doesn’t stop there. Classic films, opera, ballet, musical production, stand up comedians, and live radio shows have all found a home at the Peace Center.
