Pawleys Island, SC Condos for Rent

As one of the oldest resort areas on the East Coast, Pawleys Island is a barrier island along the Atlantic Coast in South Carolina. The quintessential beach town, you’re sure to find a cozy spot under a palm tree where you can watch the waves crashing along the shore after you rent your Pawleys Island apartment.

Pawleys Island is named for George Pawley, who owned the island during the Colonial period. The island was popular with plantation owners who flocked to the island in the summer to escape mosquitoes and malaria. Although a popular resort town for decades, Pawley’s Island wasn’t really developed until the 20th century and wasn’t incorporated until 1983. It still has that away-from-it-all resort feel, especially since there are no industrial or commercial buildings allowed on the island.

Although life on Pawleys Island is easy – think hammocks, palm trees, flip flops, and bathing suits – this Coastal Carolina community is only 25 miles south of Myrtle Beach and 70 miles north of Charleston, meaning your Pawleys Island apartment getaway is only a short drive from the golf courses, shops, and restaurants of Myrtle Beach and the history, culture, and gorgeous architecture of Charleston.
