Ardmore/Sherwood Forest Neighborhood

The Ardmore/Sherwood Forest neighborhood is just minutes from downtown Charleston and the international airport. The community is located in a primarily residential area that includes other neighborhoods like Indigo Point, Lenevar, and Sandhurst. Ardmore/Sherwood Forest is bordered by Wappoo Road to the west, Briarcliff Drive to the east and Savannah Highway to the south. Residents are just minutes away from the Mark Clark Expressway for quick trips around town.

The most convenient shopping venues to Ardmore/Sherwood Forest are West Ashley Shoppes, Westwood Plaza, The Quadrangle and Ashley Oaks Plaza shopping centers. Numerous restaurants, bistros, fast food chains, bars, sandwich shops and bakeries are just a few minutes drive from Ardmore/Sherwood Forest along Savannah Highway.

The St Andrews Presbyterian Weekday School is the only school is located within the boundaries of the neighborhood. Charles Towne Montessori School is nearby across Savannah Highway.

Charleston provides many attractions and events, from the historic St John’s Church founded in 1670 to the annual Spoleto Festival featuring name musicians and performers in downtown Charleston.

East of Ardmore/Sherwood Forest, at Patriots Point in Mount Pleasant, history buffs flock to the USS Yorktown State Park and the Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum. The imposing World War II Yorktown is a massive military carrier with four decks filled fighter jets and helicopters, submarine, memorabilia and the Congressional Medal of Honor Museum. Tourists should plan on several hours to do a complete tour of this historic ship.

The 80-acre Charles Towne Landing Historic Park is located northeast of the Ardmore/Sherwood Forest neighborhood. The park area was the permanent site of the first English settlement established in South Carolina.
