Knox County, Tennessee

Flanked by national forests, Knox County is ruggedly beautiful with towering trees, rolling hills, the Smoky Mountains, and the winding Tennessee River. The county was created in 1792 and is named for Henry Knox, a Revolutionary War general and the first US Secretary of War.

Knoxville, the county seat, is the third largest city in Tennessee. It is an award-winning city, named one of the best places for business, a top 10 hotspot, and a great-value city. Knoxville is home to several major businesses, including Scripps Networks Interactive, AC Entertainment, Bush Brothers and Company, Sea Ray, and the Tennessee Valley Authority. Neyland Stadium is home to the football team, while the basketball team plays at the Thompson-Boling Arena and the baseball team calls the Lindsey Nelson Stadium home.

Other communities in Knox County include the town of Farragut and many small, unincorporated communities including Solway, Strawberry Plains, Karns, Mascot, Powell, Concord, and Halls Crossroads.
