Neelys Bend Neighborhood

The neighborhood of Neely’s Bend is one of the most rural areas within Davidson County. It is located northeast of Nashville in the southeast portion of the city of Madison. The area of land known as Neely’s Bend is located on a peninsula which is surrounded on three sides by a winding area of the Cumberland River, which is also called Neely’s Bend.

The most prominent street on the Neely’s Bend peninsula is Neely’s Bend Road which runs the length of the peninsula. It is intersected by Menees Road which connects to Hudson Road and runs parallel to Neely’s Bend Road. The top third of the peninsula is more heavily populated than the remaining two thirds and it is this less populated area which is known as Neely’s Bend.

The properties on Neely’s Bend are all quite large. Many of these are farms and other rural properties with large forested areas and pastures.

Residents of Neely’s Bend have access to other points in the greater Nashville area via Neely’s Bend Road and Gallatin Pike, which lead to two main Nashville arteries – Briley Parkway and Interstate 65. From these roads, residents of Neely’s Bend can commute to points south in Nashville for shopping, dining, entertainment and business. For more immediate needs, such as grocery shopping, there are many retail options north on Gallatin Pike including a nearby Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market at the corner of West Old Hickory Boulevard and Gallatin Pike.

Children living in the Neely’s Bend area attend schools in the Metropolitan Nashville Public School district of Davidson County. This district includes Neely’s Bend Elementary, Madison Middle School, and Hunters Lane Comp High School.
