Outer West End-CBD Neighborhood

Nashville’s Outer West End neighborhood begins at Cherokee Road and Aquinas College and ends near Edwin Warner Park. The area includes McCabe Playground, Saint Thomas West Hospital, Nashville State Community College, and the Tennessee College of Applied Technology Nashville. It is also convenient to Vanderbilt University, the Parthenon, and Centennial Medical Center.

Cherokee Park is a historic neighborhood located in the Outer West End, with homes dating back to the 1920s. It was the first urban subdivision of Nashville. The approximately 300 houses vary in architecture with Colonial Revival, Tudor Revival, cottages, bungalows, and other styles.

The Cherokee Park is a close-knit community, with many activities planned through the Cherokee Park Neighborhood Association. Early April brings the 5 mile walk/run. The neighborhood fall picnic takes place in October. There is a cookout during the annual meeting in June. Adjacent to the Cherokee Park neighborhood is a park, Richland Creek Greenway. The park is available for public use every day of the year during daylight. It is full of wildlife, which makes the visitor forget that they are in a major American city. Many walking trails lead to surrounding neighborhoods.

Another terrific neighborhood to consider in the Outer West End is Belle Meade Links. The Belle Meade Links neighborhood was established in 1915 and stretches across 70 acres, about half of which is the Historic District, a part of the National Register of Historic Places. It is about eight miles from downtown.
