Rosedale Neighborhood

Rosedale wraps around Ramsey Park in northern Austin, Texas. This terrific neighborhood is east of the Colorado River and north of the University of Texas at Austin. Austin State Hospital is adjacent to the neighborhood. This neighborhood developed in the 1860s and was primarily made up of farmland. Most of the homes in Rosedale were built during the 1930s.

Rosedale is one of Austin’s most popular neighborhoods due to its proximity to the University of Texas at Austin, downtown Austin, and the Capitol building. The Texas State Capitol was completed in 1888 and is listed as a National Historic Landmark on the National Register of Historic Places. The building sits on 22 acres of green space filled with statues and monuments. The oldest monuments include Heroes of the Alamo, Terry’s Texas Rangers, Volunteer Firemen, and the Confederate Soldiers.

Considered one of Austin’s most cherished parks, Ramsey Park offers walking/jogging paths, tennis courts, a basketball court, play areas, picnic areas, and more. Also in the neighborhood, you’ll find Cornerstone Hospital-Austin, Stinson’s Bistro, Upper Crust Bakery, and Draught House Pub & Brewery.
