Kessler Park and Stevens Park Neighborhood

The Kessler Park and Stevens Park neighborhoods comprise an upscale community in north Oak Cliff featuring some of the city’s most appealing landscapes and trees. Distinctive homes with stunning architecture, from different eras, give the area a unique character not seen in many urban neighborhoods.

Kessler Park and Stevens Park are well known for their rolling hills, which sometimes even provide a view of the downtown Dallas skyline, which is only a few minutes away. Easy access to downtown has made the area popular with white collar workers, especially those with young families.

The winding roads of Kessler actually compliment the terrain, and the homes there feature a variety of architectural styles, including Tudor, Spanish Eclectic, Georgian, and Colonial Revival. Yard lots are spacious and often asymmetrical, and large trees dominate the neighborhood. The area remains largely unchanged since its foundation.

Part of the neighborhood has been classified as the Kessler Park Historic District, made up of a number of 1920s-era bungalows and the Stevens Park Golf Course. The golf course is located on the western side of the neighborhood, and is easily accessible from Hampton Road. The golf course is popular with residents for exercise. Shopping and dining are available on Ft. Worth Avenue, along portions of Davis Street, and to the east in the Bishop Arts District.

The general boundaries for Kessler Park and Stevens Park are Interstate 30 to the north, Hampton Road to the west, Stewart Road and Kidd Springs Park to the south, and Sylvan Road to the east. However, several small subdivisions are just outside, yet are considered by many to be part of the area.

That includes Steven Park Estates, a small enclave of charming brick homes dating to the 1940′s and 1950′s along Colorado Boulevard. Residents enjoy a quiet neighborhood, even with shopping, dining, and access to Interstate 30 only a few blocks away. Stevens Park Elementary nestles in the middle of the neighborhood.
