Highland Park Neighborhood

Located at the base of the majestic Franklin Mountains, and just a few blocks from a scenic community park, the community of Highland Park offers residents a picturesque place to live. Homes along the northern border face miles of rugged mountain terrain.

The neighborhood of Highland Park is surrounded by a wide variety of community parks that take advantage of the area’s stark terrain. Arroyo Park to the southwest features several acres of open fields. Located on the same site is the El Paso Tennis and Swim Club. This facility features an Olympic-size swimming pool and 15 tennis courts. Tom Lea Park also sits to the southwest. This small park has a playground, baseball diamonds, and is dog friendly.

Located to the west of Highland Park is Madeline Park, which has a playground, picnic area, and basketball courts.

Those looking for an educational and historical outing enjoy visiting the Chamizal National Memorial, which is located to the south. This 55-acre park has a cultural center that houses art galleries, a theater, and an amphitheater. There is a museum detailing the history of the U.S.-Mexico border, and the park itself commemorates the peaceful resolution that resulted after the Chamizal dispute, which was a 100-year disagreement between the two countries over border boundaries.

Located next to the Chamizal National Memorial is the El Paso County Coliseum. This venue seats over 7,000 and hosts a variety of events, such as concerts, ice skating shows, and the circus.
