South Fort Worth Neighborhood

South Fort Worth extends from the southeast side of the city toward Burleson. It also includes Rendon, Bisbee, and Mansfield. Area colleges include Tarrant County College, Everest College, and Texas Wesleyan University.

The neighborhood of Echo Heights is located just east of Lake Arlington. A six-mile ride via the public transportation system brings residents to downtown Fort Worth. Named for a prairie dog colony that once resided in the area, the community park is now home to a baseball field, tennis and basketball courts, picnic tables, and a children’s playground. Fairfax Park, located across Miller Avenue, also features playgrounds and a basketball court. Just a few miles away, Lake Arlington is a popular regional destination for boating, fishing, water skiing, and picnicking. Dog owners enjoy close access to the region’s first dog park, Fort Woof.

Two major shopping districts are located in the area, each featuring a mix of supermarkets, pharmacies, shops, and restaurants. Favorite local activities include viewing a football game at Herman Clark Stadium, or playing a round of golf at one of the many courses that surround the neighborhood. Attractions include the National Multicultural Western Heritage Museum, as well as the Juneteenth Gallery.

Situated just 10 miles south of Fort Worth, the Garden Acres Area is a neighborhood located near fast-growing Burleson in Tarrant County. Wide sidewalks make it easy for residents to walk to many of their desired destinations. A small shopping area is situated near the freeway.

Bicentennial Park houses playgrounds, picnic areas, a disc golf course, and a community center. A movie theater and driving range are also located nearby. For shopping, residents head to the Burleson Town Center. The medium-sized outdoor mall is anchored by JC Penney's and contains dozens of major retail stores and nationally recognized restaurants.

Local attractions include a movie theater, driving range, and Kennedale Speedway Park -- an oval dirt track that hosts IMCA races. The area is also conveniently close to the public-use Fort Worth Spinks Airport.
