Old Silk Stocking Historic District Neighborhood

Old Silk Stocking Historic District describes one of the earliest constructed areas in Galveston, Texas. Located in the heart of the coastal city, Old Silk Stocking Historic District is home to cultural points of interest, parks, and lots of entertainment options within walking distance.

Along with historic residences built from the Civil War through World War II, there are several popular restaurants in the district. Simp’s Kitchen is known for southern soul food while Charlie’s Burger’s and Mexican offers more casual cuisine. J Bangle Galleries, a studio that showcases local art, is one of the prominent cultural points of interest near the area.

A rectangular area, Old Silk Stocking Historical District sits within Galveston’s 77550 zip code. Its western boundary is popular 25th Street with parallel 23rd Street acting as its eastern border. To the north, the neighborhood ends at Avenue K and officially stops at Avenue P to the south, though locals consider it extending to the coastline, encompassing another two blocks to the south.
